Weekend Reports

Rain and Bolting

Weekend Report of the 13th June 1998

My weekend was not so flash. I drove up by myself on Sat night in the pouring rain (hitting a Kangaroo which totalled my front leftlight....grrrr) then camped in the rain. Mat couldn't come up cause he was working (this weekend hopefully he gets off) so I just did some cleaning and bolting. Put a FH in Zero Gravity and worked out a slightly contrived route betwen it and Sea of Tranquility which I plan to call Orbital Action. I placed one bolt on it also. I then played around on Armstrong but found it a bit silly and contrived. Maybe it might go from left to right from One Small Step. I also did a bit of cleaning on One Small Step and found a nice varaint that keeps away from the big ugly chimney/offwidth. A slab is on its left for half of the route so it will be okay with a couple of bolts.

BTW the Truebolts kicked arse, they felt really solid and I liked the fact that heaps of threads sticks out. Very reassuring. Its easier to hand drill a 10mm bolt to! I then cleaned a slab left of Lost in Space which will be fairly good. Maybe 15? with three or four bolts in 20m. Should be called Moonsacpe.

I found another two cool little walls on the lower cliffs with another three possible new routes. One wall is a direct copy of a piece of classic Arapiles smooth orange rock. Pity its only 8m high :-(
