Mitchell River
Gippsland Victoria
Weekend of the 23rd March 2002
Neil Monteith & Kathy Dicker

The Mitchell River from the Amphitheatre lookout.

View from midway down the main Amphitheatre cliffs. They are composed of blocky sandstone similar to Werribie Gorge or Morialta.

The main 30m high wall at The Amphitheatre.

Kathy goes for a dip in the excellent rapids of the river.

Red Rock Crag. Home to several good mid grade routes 10 minutes from the car.

The right side of Red Rock Crag.

The 18m high Den of Nargan cliff overlooking the Mitchell River.

This is an obscure cliff near Valencia Creek south of Alpine National Park. There are several easy routes on fairly crap shale like rock. Its right next to the road though.
